Chairman of Hong Kong Mental Health Foundation shares insights

At FAIVIASHCares we aim to learn more to do better.  The question is how would we learn more? we wanted to learn from key opinion leaders who are actively involved in mental health. Hence, we have humbly requested the chairman of Hong Kong Mental Health Foundation Dr. David Lau himself and he has kindly accepted our interview invitation.

Interviewee: Dr. David Lau 

Hong Kong Mental Health Foundation's vision is to enhance mental health wellbeing and tackle taboos in Hong Kong regarding mental health. Dr. Lau is a specialist in psychiatry. Hong Kong Mental Health Foundation has been set up by Professor Chan who is also part of the department of psychiatry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The foundation has also created a niche service where people suffering from mental health can benefit from these services. An example of their efforts in raising awareness of mental health in Hong Kong was to have former Ms. Hong Kong be an ambassador to the foundation and they have conducted a series of interviews regarding women's depression which have been turned into informative comics for readers. 

Warnings of signs of a mental health crisis 

Dr. Lau has split warning signs of a mental health crisis into two levels which we found interesting, the two levels were; the individual level and the community level.

-Persistent Anxiety 

-Feel on edge 

-Sleep problems 

-Consistent low morale
